2013.09.30-10.03 Course on Research Integrity and Responsible Conduct of Research

Since September 30 till October 3, 2013 a group of 12 young and senior scientists from IMBG NAS Ukraine had participated in the Course on Research Integrity and Responsible Conduct of Research. The Course was organized in the framework of the COMBIOM EU FP7 and hosted by the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (Warsaw, Poland).
All theoretical and practical parts were guided by an expert, Prof. Nils Axelsen, Ombudsman for Research Integrity at Staten’s Serum Institute in Copenhagen and the co-founder of the Danish Committees on Scientific Dishonesty.

2013.09.23 Round Table "The perspectives of the development of biomedicine in Ukraine"

23.09.2013 COMBIOM project initiated and conducted the Round Table "The perspectives of the development of biomedicine in Ukraine. Discussion of possible Joint (Research and Innovation) Program of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and National Academy of Medical Science of Ukraine".

2013-09-02 IMBG Young Scientist Grant Call

COMBIOM partners – IMBG, IIMCB (Poland) and IGR (France) – launch the IMBG Young Scientist Grant Call in order to encourage young Ukrainian scientists to carry out independent research, help them to increase impact of their research, and to discover young Eastern European scientific leaders of the XXI century.

The applicants must be young IMBG scientists under the age of 35 with a PhD degree or defending their thesis in 2013 and must have at least one paper in English in an international peer-reviewed journal to apply.

English Language Courses in IMBG

English Language Courses will be continued in IMBG in September, 2013! (with the support of COMBIOM FP7)

  • Pre-Intermediate or Intermediate - with ukrainian lecturer
  • Intermediate - with native speaker
  • Speaking Club.

Participation in National Exhibition «Coloured Ukraine»

In the framework of National Exhibition «Coloured Ukraine» August 20-23, 2013 at the exhibition hall "Science” was presented innovative developments in the field of molecular biomedicine of leading scientists of IMBG of NASU:

  • electrochemical and optical biosensors for medicine, environment monitoring, foodstuff control;
  • test systems for complex molecular diagnostics of chronic myelogenous and acute lymphoblastic leukemias;
  • test systems for gene diagnostics of severe hereditary diseases and hereditary susceptibility to mass pathologies;

English language courses for IMBG NASU

From September 2012 to May 2013 English language courses have been organized for IMBG NASU staff. Scientists and science managers study in different groups on the level of Beginners, Elementary English, Intermediate (with native speaking teacher). Besides, IMBG people meet weekly in the English Speaking Club moderated by the native speaker. About 50 people are involved in the education. Following this initiative, IMBG young scientists start their own Scientific Debating Society in English.

Announcement of IMBG NASU Annual Competition “The best article of the year in molecular biomedicine” for 2012 with 2 prizes: for young scientists and experienced researchers. More details are on the IMBG website.

Connecting IMBG NAS of Ukraine to Ukrainian educational network

In December 2012, with the support of the National Ecological-Naturalistic Youth Center of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Ukraine (NENC) the Institute has connected to the Ukrainian educational network that was created to spread and popularize the knowledge of modern science.

2012.10.01-10.05 Innovative Workshop on Scientific Communication

01.10 – 05.10.2012 in the framework of the COMBIOM №294932 project the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB), Warsaw, Poland hosted a group of 11 IMBG scientists (Kiev, Ukraine) who participated in a weekly workshop on Scientific Communication delivered by the expert, Prof. Edward Potworowski from Canada.
For the first time at IIMCB such an event was carried out remotely using an on-line Citrix GoToMeeting program. It was very useful experience for IIMCB managers as well as for participants from IMBG.
